Fun Fact
Meet Shaun M. Simmons
Candidate for Nampa City Council – District 5
"Defending Small Town Values"
• Community
• Leadership
• Citizen Engagement
Shaun M. Simmons was born in Boise, Idaho, and proudly calls Nampa home. After moving to the city of Nampa and marrying his wife, Jodi, Shaun has dedicated his life to public safety and service.
At 20 years old, Shaun began his career as a Correctional Officer with the Idaho Department of Correction. Over the past 20 years, he’s worked on the front lines with the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, TSA, Ada County Animal Control, and the Oregon Department of Correction—always putting the safety and well-being of others first.
Shaun is currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity at the College of Western Idaho, with plans to complete his education at Boise State University.
A Platform Rooted in Action
Shaun isn’t just running to talk—he’s running to act. His priorities on the Nampa City Council include:
Public Safety First: With two decades in security and corrections, Shaun knows what real safety requires. He’ll fight for fully funded police and fire departments, support fentanyl prevention efforts, and advocate for first responders and families.
Smart, Responsible Growth: Shaun will oppose unchecked development that clogs roads and strains schools. He supports policies that make growth pay for itself and protect the character of existing neighborhoods.
Infrastructure Before Expansion: Shaun will ensure roads and traffic systems in District 5 are improved before new high-density developments are approved. He believes in practical solutions—not promises.
Family & Faith at the Center: A committed conservative and a Teddy Roosevelt Progressive Republican, Shaun believes a strong community starts with strong families. He’ll defend family values, protect parental rights, and promote youth programs that build character and opportunity.
Listening to You: Shaun knows local government works best when it listens. He’ll advocate for his constituency, fight for transparency, and keep politics out of common-sense decision making.
“It’s more important to help a man earn money for his family than to help a man earn money for his corporation.” – Teddy Roosevelt
Shaun believes that faith, family, and community are the cornerstones of a healthy, vibrant city—and that Nampa deserves leadership rooted in real-world experience, not politics.
Past Experience
Welcome — Why I’m Running for Nampa City Council, District 5
I’m running for Nampa City Council because I believe District 5 deserves a representative who speaks for the people, not at them. Someone who understands everyday concerns because I live them too.
Like many of my neighbors, I care deeply about preserving Nampa’s small-town spirit. I support strong public safety, responsible growth, and a city government that truly serves its residents. These are values I share with many others—but here’s what sets me apart:
I’m not taking donations. I’m not seeking endorsements. I have no ties to special interests, and I don’t want any. The only thing I’m asking for is your vote.
I don’t believe a candidate who stands for small-town values should rely on money or endorsements from special interests. As a grassroots candidate, I know this puts me at a disadvantage in getting the word out—but I believe it’s the right way to lead. If elected, I’ll be accountable only to the citizens of Nampa—no one else.
This campaign is about honesty, common sense, and putting people before politics. If that’s the kind of leadership you want for District 5, I’d be honored to earn your vote.
