Fun Fact
Funny fact about me: I once taught a computer literacy class where my students ended up teaching me a few shortcuts I didn’t know. I tell people it just proves that learning never stops—and sometimes the teacher becomes the student!
Past Experience
I am Watson Gomes, a Social Science Instructor at the Community College of Aurora. I also teach Social Studies an Financial Literacy at Rocky Mountain Prep RISE High School, and I serve as a youth coach for Colorado Rapids. I hold a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Graduate Center of New York, NY, where I was a Student Council Representative, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Methodist University. As a devoted father, husband, and educator, I am deeply committed to public service and human rights. With my experience as both a college instructor and high school teacher, I have dedicated my career to empowering students and strengthening the connections between classrooms and their communities. In my role as a Community Outreach advocate and Colorado Rapids Coach, I emphasize the importance of teamwork, mentorship, and creating inclusive opportunities. My dedication to education and equity was recognized in 2010 when I received the Prize of Education in Human Rights from Methodist University. Currently, I am campaigning for a position on the Aurora City Council because I want to provide experienced, values-driven leadership for our city. I envision a more connected, transparent, and compassionate Aurora where every voice is valued and every neighborhood can thrive.
My Top Issues
Increasing affordable housing options
Increasing affordable housing options in Aurora means creating pathways for working families, seniors, and young people to find stable, safe, and affordable homes without being priced out of our community.
Invest in crime prevention
Investing in crime prevention means addressing root causes like poverty, lack of opportunity, and limited access to mental health services. By strengthening community programs, supporting youth, and partnering with law enforcement, we can build a safer Aurora for everyone.
Invest in local public education
Investing in local public education means ensuring every student has access to quality teachers, modern resources, and programs that prepare them for success. By supporting schools and educators, we can give Aurora’s children the tools they need to thrive and build a stronger community.

After graduating from Overland High School, Danielle served honorably for 9 years in the Air National Guard, much of it at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora. She is a single mom, successful business owner, and proud veteran. Motivated by frustration with out-of-touch politicians, Danielle answered the call to serve once more by running for and being elected to Aurora City Council, where she represents the people with courage and dedication, giving a voice to those too often overlooked.

The daughter of a Black veteran and an immigrant mother who moved to Aurora in 1975 to build a better life for their five children, Alli grew up understanding the value of hard work and community.
